Sabouraud Dextrose Agar – Fungal & Yeast Culture Medium

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) is a microbiological culture medium commonly used for the cultivation and isolation of yeasts, moulds and other fungi. Typical SDA formulations contain peptones, a relatively high concentration of dextrose/glucose and agar. The medium's acidic pH helps create conditions favourable for many fungi while reducing the growth of some bacteria. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar is widely used in medical mycology, pharmaceutical microbiology, research, environmental monitoring and other appropriate microbiological applications.
