Philips HeartStart HS1 AED – Automated External Defibrillator

The Philips HeartStart HS1 AED (M5066A) is a portable Automated External Defibrillator designed to provide defibrillation therapy during suspected sudden cardiac arrest. It automatically evaluates the patient's ECG and determines whether a shockable rhythm is present before allowing shock delivery. Philips identifies ventricular fibrillation and certain ventricular tachycardias associated with lack of circulation among the rhythms the device evaluates as shockable. The HeartStart HS1 provides step-by-step voice instructions and CPR guidance, helping guide the responder from electrode-pad placement through CPR and, when appropriate, shock delivery. The AED uses Philips SMART biphasic therapy, with waveform parameters automatically adjusted according to patient impedance. For adults, Philips specifies 150 J nominal into a 50-ohm load. Paediatric treatment is supported using the optional Infant/Child SMART Pads Cartridge, which reduces therapy to 50 J nominal into a 50-ohm load.
