The Philadelphia Cervical Collar is a rigid cervical orthosis designed to support and immobilize the neck while helping maintain the cervical spine in a neutral position. It is commonly used following neck injuries, during post-operative care, and in rehabilitation where controlled cervical movement is required.
The collar typically has a two-piece front-and-back design secured with hook-and-loop fasteners. It is made from lightweight closed-cell foam and may include rigid anterior and posterior reinforcement for greater stability. Many models also have a large anterior opening that provides access to the throat area and can facilitate tracheostomy access when required.
