The Ophthalmic A/B Scan Ultrasound Scanner is a diagnostic ophthalmology system that combines A-Scan biometry with B-Scan ocular imaging. The A-Scan measures parameters such as axial length, anterior chamber depth and lens thickness for intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation, while the B-Scan provides cross-sectional imaging of internal eye structures, particularly when direct visualization is difficult due to cataract, vitreous opacity or other media obstruction.
Application: Ophthalmic ultrasound diagnosis and ocular biometry
Scanning Functions: A-Scan and B-Scan
A-Scan Probe Frequency: Typically 10 MHz
B-Scan Probe Frequency: Typically 10 MHz
A-Scan Measurement: Anterior chamber depth, lens thickness, vitreous length and axial length
Axial Length Measuring Range: Approximately 15–40 mm
A-Scan Accuracy: Typically ±0.05 to ±0.1 mm, depending on model
Measurement Modes: Contact and immersion
Eye Modes: Normal/phakic, cataract, aphakic and pseudophakic modes
IOL Calculation: Supports common formulas such as SRK-II, SRK-T, Holladay, Hoffer-Q, Binkhorst-II and Haigis
B-Scan Imaging: Real-time sector scanning for posterior-segment examination
B-Scan Depth: Commonly up to approximately 50–60 mm
Scanning Angle: Around 53° on many systems
Gray Scale: Up to 256 levels
Gain: Adjustable; model-dependent
Measurement Tools: Distance, area, circumference, angle and related ocular measurements
Image Functions: Freeze, zoom, cine-loop, image storage and review
Display Modes: May include B, B+B, B+A and A
Data Management: Patient information, images, measurements and reports can be stored
Connectivity: USB and network/DICOM support may be available depending on model
Power Supply: Commonly 100–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz
