Nuclease-Free Molecular Biology Grade Water is highly purified laboratory water designed for sensitive molecular biology procedures where contamination by DNases, RNases, proteases, ions, microorganisms or other impurities could interfere with test results.
It is commonly used in PCR, qPCR, cDNA synthesis, DNA/RNA extraction, cloning, sequencing, electrophoresis, buffer preparation and nucleic-acid dilution. Commercial molecular-grade waters are typically filtered and quality-tested to confirm the absence of nuclease activity. Thermo Fisher, for example, offers molecular biology grade water tested for DNase, RNase and protease contamination, while Sigma-Aldrich lists nuclease-free water prepared from double-distilled and deionized water and filtered through a 0.1 µm membrane.
