Mindray officially includes Ferritin within its anemia CLIA assay menu and supplies its CLIA reagents as liquid, ready-to-use systems. Ferritin is the body's major intracellular iron-storage protein, and serum ferritin concentration is commonly used as a laboratory indicator of iron stores. Ferritin testing is useful in the assessment of iron deficiency, anemia and other disorders affecting iron metabolism. Ferritin can also rise during inflammation, so results should be interpreted together with other clinical and laboratory findings.
