The Milwaukee MA887 Digital Seawater Refractometer is a portable precision instrument designed for fast and accurate measurement of the salinity of natural seawater, artificial seawater, ocean water and brackish water.
Unlike traditional optical refractometers that require users to visually interpret a scale, the MA887 digitally measures refractive index and temperature and converts the result into one of three commonly used salinity scales: PSU (Practical Salinity Units), ppt (parts per thousand) or Specific Gravity S.G. (20/20). Results are displayed in approximately 1.5 seconds.
The instrument features Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC), simple one-point calibration using distilled or deionized water, an easy-to-clean stainless-steel sample well and flint-glass prism. Only a small sample volume of approximately 100 µL is required for measurement.
