MAST Urea Agar Base – 500g

MAST Urea Agar Base is a dehydrated microbiological culture medium used for the detection of urease-producing microorganisms. It is based on the Christensen formulation and is suitable for differentiating organisms according to their ability to hydrolyse urea. Urease-positive organisms hydrolyse urea and produce alkaline products, causing the pH indicator in the prepared medium to change colour. Organisms commonly investigated include species of Proteus, Klebsiella, Citrobacter, Yersinia, Serratia and Enterobacter.
