MAST Tetrathionate Broth – 460g

MAST Tetrathionate Broth is a selective enrichment culture medium designed for the detection and isolation of Salmonella species from clinical, food and water samples. Its selectivity is based on tetrathionate formed after iodine is added to the sodium thiosulphate-containing base. This inhibits many competing intestinal organisms while allowing Salmonella species to multiply. Bile salts provide additional suppression of unwanted enteric bacteria.
