MAST Eosin Methylene Blue Agar 500g is a dehydrated microbiological culture medium used for the isolation and differentiation of Gram-negative bacteria, particularly enteric organisms. The medium is based on Levine’s formulation and can be used to differentiate Escherichia coli from other coliform organisms in food, water and clinical microbiology applications. Eosin and methylene blue act as differential indicators, helping distinguish organisms according to lactose fermentation characteristics.
