The Manual Lensmeter, also called a manual lensometer or focimeter, is an optical instrument used to measure the refractive power of spectacle lenses. It enables optometrists and optical technicians to determine sphere power, cylinder power, cylinder axis and prism and to locate and mark the optical centre of a lens. The instrument uses a manually focused optical system with an adjustable eyepiece, lens holder, power drum and axis scale. It is suitable for checking finished prescription spectacles, verifying new lenses before dispensing and measuring single-vision and other compatible ophthalmic lenses.
