Leica HistoCore AUTOCUT Automated Rotary Microtome

The Leica HistoCore AUTOCUT is a high-performance automated rotary microtome designed for precise and reproducible sectioning of paraffin-embedded tissue specimens in histology and pathology laboratories. Unlike a purely manual microtome, the AUTOCUT provides motorized push-button sectioning. It also allows semi-automated operation using push-button specimen advance and retraction, while retaining a manual sectioning option for technicians who prefer traditional handwheel control. The instrument offers a broad 0.5–100 µm section thickness range and 1–600 µm trimming range, with motorized sectioning speeds up to 420 mm/s ±10%. A key safety feature is the automatic electronic brake. When automated sectioning is paused, the brake activates and holds the specimen in a safer position away from the blade. The system also incorporates an antistatic waste tray, precision specimen orientation, force-balancing technology and a 2-in-1 blade holder.
