Hollow Fiber Hemodialysis Dialyzer

A Hemodialysis Dialyzer is the blood-filtering component used during hemodialysis treatment. Often referred to as an “artificial kidney,” it removes metabolic waste products and excess fluid from the patient's blood when the kidneys can no longer perform these functions adequately. Modern dialyzers typically contain thousands of hollow-fiber semipermeable membranes. During treatment, the patient's blood flows through the hollow fibers while dialysate flows around them. Waste products and excess water move across the membrane while the treated blood is returned to the patient through the hemodialysis bloodline.
