The Foot Drop Splint (Ankle Foot Orthosis – AFO) is an orthopedic support designed to assist individuals who have difficulty lifting the front of the foot during walking. It helps maintain the foot in a more functional position, improves toe clearance during the swing phase of gait and provides ankle-foot stability. Common rigid AFO designs are manufactured from lightweight thermoplastic or polypropylene and extend from the calf down behind the ankle to a footplate that fits inside suitable footwear.
