A Digital Overhead Stirrer is a motor-driven laboratory mixing instrument designed for controlled stirring, blending, homogenizing and dispersion of liquid samples. Unlike a magnetic stirrer, an overhead stirrer drives a stirring shaft or impeller directly from above the sample, making it particularly useful for larger volumes and higher-viscosity materials.
Digital models provide electronic speed adjustment and a display for monitoring stirring speed. Depending on the model, additional functions can include timer control, torque compensation, overload protection, reversible rotation and constant-speed regulation as sample viscosity changes.
The equipment is widely used in pharmaceutical laboratories, chemical synthesis, biotechnology, cosmetics, food laboratories, research laboratories, quality-control laboratories and physical/chemical analysis.
