Dengocem 9 by Dengen Dental is a high-strength, radiopaque posterior glass ionomer restorative cement formulated for professional restorative dentistry. It is a self-curing GIC designed to provide the characteristics of conventional glass ionomer materials with improved physical properties for use in posterior teeth. The formulation contains strontium glass, which provides radiopacity for visualization of the restoration on dental radiographs and contributes to the product's snap-set characteristics. Dengen also states that strontium can participate in the formation of strontium hydroxyapatite and strontium fluoroapatite within the tooth environment. According to Dengen, when the strontium-based glass ionomer is exposed to a calcium-containing environment such as saliva, calcium ions can diffuse into the cement surface, producing a surface-strengthening effect. Dengocem 9 is intended for appropriate posterior restorative applications, including Class I and small Class II restorations in non-load-bearing areas, Class I and II restorations in deciduous teeth, transitional restorations, and base/core build-ups.
