Bunsen Burner

The Bunsen Burner is a laboratory gas burner designed to produce a controlled open flame for heating, sterilization, combustion and other routine laboratory procedures. Bunsen burners work by mixing a combustible gas with ambient air before ignition, with the air-to-gas mixture determining the characteristics of the resulting flame. The burner typically consists of a vertical metal barrel, stable base, gas inlet and adjustable air openings. On adjustable models, the air regulator allows the operator to control the amount of air entering the burner, while a needle valve may provide additional control over gas flow and flame intensity.
