The Brewer’s Choice Portable Refractometer is a handheld optical measuring instrument designed for quick determination of sugar concentration in liquids, particularly wort and other brewing-related samples. With a measurement range of 0–30 °Brix, the refractometer enables brewers and laboratory users to monitor dissolved sugar concentration using only a few drops of sample. Brix measurement is commonly used during brewing to assess wort sugar concentration and help monitor the brewing and fermentation process. The integrated Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC) helps compensate for changes in ambient/sample temperature that could otherwise affect refractive measurements. Comparable handheld brewing refractometers commonly provide ATC within approximately 10–30°C.
