BD Phoenix™ M50 Automated Microbial ID and AST System

The BD Phoenix™ M50 Automated Microbiology System is an advanced laboratory platform designed for automated microbial identification (ID) and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) of clinically significant microorganisms. The system helps clinical microbiology laboratories identify microorganisms and determine their susceptibility to antimicrobial agents, generating information that can support appropriate antimicrobial therapy and antimicrobial stewardship. Using dedicated BD Phoenix panels, the M50 can rapidly identify most clinically significant Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, as well as yeast. Depending on the selected panel, laboratories can perform identification only, susceptibility testing only, or combined ID and AST. The system also supports detection of important antimicrobial-resistance markers, including CPO, MRSA, mecA, VRSA, VRE, ESBL, HLAR and inducible clindamycin resistance (iMLSb) with appropriate panels and configurations. Its compact, modular and stackable design allows laboratories to expand capacity as testing volumes increase.
