B. Braun Prontosan® Wound Gel X 50g is a highly viscous wound-care gel designed for the cleansing, moistening and decontamination of acute and chronic wounds, including burns. It supports a moist wound environment and provides prolonged wound cleansing between dressing changes. The formulation contains 0.1% polyaminopropyl biguanide (polyhexanide/PHMB), betaine surfactant, purified water, glycerol and hydroxyethylcellulose. B. Braun indicates that the gel can be used for wound-bed management and prevention of biofilm formation. The 50g Gel X formulation is particularly suited to appropriate larger-surface wounds, while maintaining moisture and supporting wound-bed preparation.
