Antibiotic Susceptibility Discs are laboratory diagnostic consumables used for antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) to determine whether a bacterial isolate is susceptible, intermediate or resistant to particular antimicrobial agents.
The discs are small filter-paper discs impregnated with defined concentrations of antimicrobial agents. During disc-diffusion susceptibility testing, the discs are placed onto an agar plate that has been inoculated with the bacterial isolate being tested. The antimicrobial agent diffuses into the surrounding medium, and bacterial growth is assessed around the disc after incubation. Disc-diffusion methods are standardized by organizations including Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute and European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing.
The resulting zone of inhibition is measured and interpreted according to the applicable current susceptibility-testing standard and the specific organism/antimicrobial combination.
Gram Positive & Gram Negative Antibiotic Susceptibility Discs are designed for reliable Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST), enabling laboratories to determine the effectiveness of antibiotics against bacterial isolates. Containing a carefully selected panel of antibiotics for both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, these discs provide accurate and consistent results using the Kirby–Bauer disc diffusion method. Ideal for hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, research institutions, and microbiology laboratories, they support rapid diagnosis, appropriate antibiotic selection, and improved patient care.
