Abbott Determine HIV Early Detect 1-2 4th Generation Rapid Test

The Abbott Determine™ HIV Early Detect 1/2 4th Generation Rapid Test is a professional point-of-care HIV screening assay designed for the qualitative detection of HIV-1 p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2. Unlike antibody-only HIV rapid tests, this fourth-generation assay includes detection of free HIV-1 p24 antigen, which can support identification of HIV infection earlier in the course of infection. Abbott states that results are available in approximately 20 minutes. The test accommodates fingerstick whole blood, venous whole blood, serum and plasma, providing flexibility across hospitals, clinics, laboratories and appropriate HIV screening programmes. Abbott specifies a sample volume of 50 µL and storage at 2–30°C. The product is also WHO prequalified, and NAFDAC's Greenbook currently lists Determine HIV Early Detect under Abbott Healthcare Nigeria Limited with active registration NRN 03-6286.
