The 35 × 43 cm X-Ray Intensifying Screen is a large-format radiographic accessory designed for use inside compatible 35 × 43 cm (14 × 17") X-ray film cassettes. The screen converts incoming X-ray energy into visible light, which exposes compatible radiographic film and helps reduce the amount of X-ray exposure required compared with direct film exposure.
The 35 × 43 cm format is equivalent to approximately 14 × 17 inches and is a standard large radiographic size. It is commonly used for examinations involving larger anatomical areas, including the chest, abdomen, thoracic and lumbar spine, and long bones, depending on the imaging protocol.
Intensifying screens may be green- or blue-emitting. The screen must be paired with X-ray film having the corresponding spectral sensitivity. MSF specifications, for example, describe 35 × 43 cm rare-earth green-emitting screens with a nominal speed of 400
